Wallace, Ind, Austin Fine, 88, of Crawfordsville, a former Wallace resident died at 3 a.m. Tuesday, March 9, 1971 at the Ben Hur Nursing Home in Crawfordsville. He had been ill the past 10 weeks. Born June 17, 1882 near Wallace, he was the son of Jacob E. and Maria Keller Fine. He married Atha Osborne who died in 1930. He was a barber for many years in Wallace, Waveland and Crawfordsville areas. He owned and operated a kennel for registered bird dogs. He attended the Old Germany and Wallace schools. He was a member of the Lutheran Church, Masonic Lodge F & AM 495 and the Low 12 Club, all of Wallace. Mr Fine had resided with his mother until her death. He then resided with Mr. and Mrs. Opha Philpott at Wallace for seven years. For the past year and a half he had resided with a sister, Mrs. Clark Jones at Crawfordsville. Survivors include the sister; a brother, Clarence of Indianapolis; a nephew, Richard Fine of Brookfield, Wis. He was preceded in death by a brother, Earl who was killed in France during WWI and a sister. Arrangements are pending at the Servies-Thomas Funeral Home, Waynetown.
